Full Groom, Mini Groom, or Bath & Blow Dry, which does your dog actually need? Here's a clear breakdown to help you book the right package the first time.

One of the most common questions we get from new clients isn't about pricing, it's about which package actually fits their dog. Full Groom, Mini Groom, and Bath & Blow Dry all sound straightforward on a pricing page, but knowing which one your dog actually needs can save you money and set the right expectations before you book.
We're The Double U Grooming Co., an appointment-only dog grooming spa based in Liberty, SC, serving clients across Easley, Six Mile, Pickens, and the surrounding Upstate. Here's a clear breakdown of what each package includes, and how to know which one is right for your dog.
A Full Groom is the most comprehensive option, a full haircut and styling, bath, blow dry, nail trim, ear cleaning, and sanitary trim, tailored to your dog's breed and coat type.
This is the right choice if:
Your dog's coat needs an actual haircut, not just a trim-up.
It's been 6+ weeks since the last full groom and growth has gotten shaggy or unmanageable.
Your dog has a curly or double coat prone to matting, where regular full grooms are the best way to stay ahead of it, especially relevant if you've read our guide on signs your dog's coat is matted.
You want a specific breed-standard or stylized cut.
A Mini Groom is a lighter service, typically covering face, feet, and sanitary trim, along with nail care, without a full-body haircut. It's designed to keep your dog tidy between full grooms, not replace them.
This is the right choice if:
Your dog had a Full Groom recently and just needs touch-ups in high-growth areas.
Your dog is new to grooming, or anxious, and benefits from a shorter, lower-stress appointment as a starting point, similar to the gradual approach we use for anxious or reactive dogs and senior dogs.
You want to stretch the interval between full grooms without letting things get unmanageable in between.
Bath & Blow Dry is exactly what it sounds like, a thorough bath, blow dry, and basic brush-out, without any haircut. It's the lightest of the three services and the most affordable starting point.
This is the right choice if:
Your dog doesn't need a trim, just a clean, fresh coat.
You're bringing a puppy in for their first visit, this is often the gentlest starting point, as covered in our guide on your puppy's first grooming visit.
Your dog is shedding heavily and you want to pair the bath with a De-Shed Treatment add-on rather than booking a full groom.
You're between full grooms and just need your dog freshened up.
All three packages can be paired with add-ons from our Spa menu, most commonly De-Shed Treatment ($10) for heavy shedders or Dematting Service ($15) for dogs with existing mats. These aren't standalone services, they layer onto whichever package you book. If you're unsure whether your dog needs de-shedding or dematting specifically, we broke down the difference in detail in our de-shed treatment guide.
If you're still unsure, a rough rule of thumb:
Coat needs cutting → Full Groom
Coat is fine, just needs upkeep in a few spots → Mini Groom
Coat just needs cleaning, no cutting needed → Bath & Blow Dry
Heavy shedding, no matting → Any package + De-Shed Treatment
Visible mats → Full Groom + Dematting Service (may require a shave-down depending on severity)
When in doubt, it's always fine to call ahead and describe your dog's coat, we're happy to recommend the right package before you book rather than after.
If you're still not sure which service fits, just give us a call, we'd rather help you choose the right one upfront than have you book the wrong package. The Double U Grooming Co. serves Liberty, Easley, Six Mile, Pickens, and the surrounding Upstate.
